Going Deeper
- “We’re seeing a shift…people used to ask, ‘Is God real?’…Now they’re asking, ‘Is God good?’” (Wesley Huff, biblical scholar & apologist). When we read about God killing all of the firstborn sons of Egypt, how do we still affirm that God is good?
- Read Romans 3:10-20. According to this passage, how many people in the world deserve to live a minute longer? Why are we shocked when God decides it’s time for anyone’s life to end?
- “How on earth can a holy and righteous God, know what I did and thought and said yesterday, not kill me in my sleep last night?” (Voddie Baucham). Based on the passage above, what do you think Voddie Baucham is talking about in this quote?
- Read Romans 3:21-26. According to these verses, why has God left sinful people alive as long as He has? (see especially v. 25-26)
- Read Psalm 106:6-12. According to these verses, why did God deliver the Israelites out of Egypt?
- Read 1 John 2:12. According to this verse, why did God save us from our sins?
- Read Ephesians 2:8-10. According to these verses, what does God want us to do once we are saved? (see also Matthew 28:18-20)
- What is God calling you to do at this point in your life? What would it look like to fully obey that call
- What would be difficult or uncomfortable about obeying God completely? What does it look like to trust God with this situation?
